Wargame: AirLand Battle is a real-time strategy video game developed by Eugen Systems and published by Focus Home Interactive, released on May 29, 2013. It is set in Europe during the Cold War, most specifically in the years 1975-1985.
Eugen Systems return with a follow-up to the engaging Cold War RTS, Wargame: European Escalation. Set in 1985, AirLand Battle starts when an incident in the North Sea sparks an all-out war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. The result is twelve nations, divided into two sides, offering over 700 units, including infantry, tanks, helicopters and planes, for you to command across the sequel’s huge battlefields. A new dynamic map offers more structure and variety to your campaign, with persistent units that improve across the course of your war. Assuming you can keep them alive. In addition, up to 20 players can do battle in the game’s multiplayer.
Wargame's playable factions are the Warsaw Pact, which is subdivided into the Soviet Union, Communist Poland, East Germany, and Czechoslovakia; and NATO, which is subdivided into the United States of America, United Kingdom, France and West Germany. Players can choose various units from the four subfactions of the side they are playing on, unlocking new units or improved variants as they progress. In all, there are 361 historical units recreated in Wargame.
Each country has its own arsenal of units, reflecting their military doctrine.
