The Hobbit is a 2003 video game published by Vivendi Universal and based on the book The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. It is a platform game that features puzzles and fighting enemies.Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who lives in Hobbiton, a small town in the peaceful Shire region. One day a wizard named Gandalf shows up at his door and invites Bilbo on a quest. Bilbo declines but accidentally invites Gandalf to tea. The next day Gandalf and thirteen dwarves arrive at Bilbo's door. While they discuss their quest, Bilbo is overwhelmed by the subjects being discussed and faints. When he wakes he decides to go on the quest after all and hurries to join the dwarves before they depart.
After a nearly-fatal encounter with a group of trolls, the group is rescued by Gandalf who leads them to the Elven city of Rivendell, then across and under the goblin-infested Misty Mountains, and after an escape from wolves thanks to a timely rescue by the Giant Eagles, the company continue across Mirkwood Forest encountering spiders and wood elves, and then to Laketown, and on to Erebor to slay Smaug the dragon and reclaim the treasure stolen from the Dwarves. Finally, the characters enter the Dwarven Stronghold, and look for the Arkenstone, an artifact held in high regard by Bilbo's companions. When done, the final battle is fought against a horde of goblins seeking the treasure of the Lonely Mountain for themselves, and then at last Bilbo is able to return home.
CHARACTERS
>Bilbo: The protagonist and the only playable character.
.Gandalf: The wizard, who organizes the Quest of Erebor with Thorin. He is not a playable character, but gives Bilbo different tasks and helps him fight against the goblins at the end of Over Hill and Under Hill. He appears in a few levels.
>Thorin: An important dwarf and King under the Mountain. He sets Bilbo a few tasks, like investigating the Troll camp and retrieving the Arkenstone. He appears in most levels.
>Bard: The Captain of the Town Guard. He appears in Lake-town and the Battle of Five Armies. In Lake-town he gives Bilbo jobs to perform in service of the town.
>Lianna: An elf of Thranduil's Hall in Mirkwood, Bilbo first meets her in the Troll Cave. She eventually helps Bilbo escape from Thranduil's Hall. She does not appear in the book.
>Corwin: A sad, heartbroken woodsman from Laketown. Bilbo meets him when searching for the dwarves in Mirkwood. He does not appear in the book.
>Balfor: A dwarf of the Iron Hills who has been made a slave of the goblins. He does not appear in the book.
